Definition

An order to buy at a maximum price or sell at a minimum price, with the possibility of execution at a better price.

What you need to know

A price limit does not guarantee that the order will execute or be filled in full. On Coinbase Advanced, the portion of a limit order that immediately matches an existing order is charged as a taker; a portion that waits in the order book may be charged as a maker. Check the limit price separately from the pricing of the service you use.
