Identify the contracting company before the platform
Before choosing trading software, identify the company named in the account agreement. FP Markets includes distinct entities: ASIC-regulated First Prudential Markets Pty Ltd in Australia; CySEC-regulated First Prudential Markets Ltd in Cyprus; FSA-regulated First Prudential Markets Limited in Seychelles; FSCA-regulated FP Markets (Pty) Ltd in South Africa; and CMA-regulated FP Markets Limited in Kenya. The international site also identifies Saint Lucia-registered FP Markets Ltd. That company registration is not a licence held by one of the other companies.
This determines which product, leverage, protection, fee and complaint terms apply. An affiliate link or website language does not establish account eligibility, including for Israeli residents. Under the Saint Lucia agreement, acceptance requires an application and company approval, and the entity excludes specified countries. Identical software does not make one entity's contract interchangeable with another's.
Choose a platform for the workflow you need
Consider MT4 if an existing workflow relies on charts, alerts or MQL4 tools. MT5 additionally offers depth of market, an economic calendar and a more advanced strategy tester. cTrader provides Level II pricing, order-management tools and C# automation. These are technical distinctions; instruments and account permissions still depend on the broker and legal entity.
| Platform | What to examine in a demo |
|---|---|
| MT4 | Charts, orders and compatibility with existing MQL4 tools |
| MT5 | Symbol specifications, market depth and economic calendar |
| cTrader | Order handling, pricing and commission reporting |
| TradingView | FP Markets symbols and the brokerage connection |
FP Markets describes TradingView integration through a cTrader ID and a completed, funded live account. TradingView appears under Raw in the international table. Chart practice alone does not prove the account is connected or every symbol is available. Running a robot under Saint Lucia also requires the express written permission specified in clause 14.14, beyond technical compatibility.
Separate the quoted price from the trade's cost
Keep separate spreadsheet entries for spread, opening commission and closing commission. The international Forex table gives Standard no separate dealing commission because pricing is incorporated in the spread. For a USD Raw account on MT4/MT5, Forex commission is USD 3 per lot per side, or USD 6 for opening and closing combined. Add the spread's monetary cost in the same currency. This prevents comparing a one-sided commission with a whole round-trip spread cost.
The advertised 0.0-pip floor is not a continuously available price. Small spread differences can matter on short trades, but only after both commissions and position size are included. Switching from Forex to an equity CFD also changes the tariff: MT5 and cTrader fee pages list market-specific share commissions and minimum charges. Standard's zero separate Forex commission does not remove those costs. The Standard vs Raw comparison explains account-currency pricing.
Overnight financing depends on direction and rollover day
Open the instrument's specification and inspect both long and short swap rates. In MT4, FP Markets describes using Market Watch, selecting the symbol and opening Properties; in MT5, use Specification. The official page explains that rates can be negative in both directions and can change. Opposing long and short positions do not guarantee financing will cancel out.
FP Markets specifies rollover at midnight server time, which need not be midnight in Israel. Triple swap normally occurs on Wednesday and on Friday for some instruments, so check the selected symbol's own charging day. Record the calculation unit—points, money or a percentage—as applicable to that product. A currency pair's financing calculation should not be substituted for a share or index.
For a position intended to remain open several nights, model holding costs alongside entry and exit costs. A dated swap table is not a fixed promise of future financing rates.
Account currency, conversion and payment costs
The FAQ distinguishes currencies available for opening an account from deposit currencies. Advertised account currencies include USD, EUR and AUD. Choosing a familiar currency does not establish how much will arrive after funding from another currency. Check who performs the conversion, the applicable exchange rate, and any bank, card or e-wallet charges. Saint Lucia agreement clause 19.1 describes funding in account currency and does not promise a service to convert an existing balance between currencies.
Conversion also enters commission calculations: MT4/MT5 publishes Raw tariffs in account currency, whereas cTrader charges USD 3 per lot per side for Forex and metals, converted into the account currency. This does not necessarily constitute a separate conversion fee, but it affects the amount debited in another currency.
Record the amount sent, the expected net credit and costs on each side of the transfer. A statement about deposit-fee coverage does not establish that the bank or card provider will charge nothing.
Withdrawal routing and dormant-account charges
FP Markets' FAQ requires deposited funds to return first through the method used to send them. Where several funding methods were used, cards take priority; after the deposits have been returned, profits may use another method. Bank accounts and e-wallets must belong to the trading-account holder, and third-party deposits are not accepted. Check these rules when choosing a funding method, rather than discovering them only at withdrawal.
Saint Lucia agreement clauses 19.3–19.4 permit recovery of payment-provider charges in specified cases, including funding and withdrawal activity inconsistent with trading activity. Clause 18.12 provides for USD 10 monthly inactivity charges, or equivalent, after a continuous 90-day period meeting the contract's definition, on accounts with available funds. Accounts at USD 10 or below are archived, and this charge does not create a negative balance. Before leaving an account unused, read that contractual definition; the names Standard and Raw do not exempt it from the clause.
Use a demo to learn the process, then assess execution carefully
In a demo, choose one instrument and learn where to find its contract size, pip value, spread, commission and financing. Practise opening, modifying and closing orders, then inspect the transaction history. Build comparable cost scenarios using the same size and currency for each account. The objective is to understand the statement; successful demo results do not establish future profit or identical live-account execution.
The Saint Lucia execution policy describes positive and negative slippage, including on Stop Loss and Take Profit orders. During news events, thin liquidity or market openings, the requested price may be unavailable. Do not attach an invented fixed slippage allowance to a cost example: record requested and executed prices and distinguish the difference from the published commission.
Leveraged CFDs can rapidly deplete trading funds. Understanding costs does not make the product low risk. The FP Markets review and true trading-cost guide provide further checks beyond a low-spread headline.
