Maker and taker in one sentence
Most exchanges charge different fees depending on the order type. A maker order adds liquidity to the order book, for example a limit order that does not fill immediately. A taker order removes liquidity, for example a market order that fills immediately against an existing order. On MEXC this difference stands out, because the maker fee in the official guide is zero in both spot and futures. Crypto trading, and leveraged trading in particular, involves high volatility and a risk of losing all the money deposited.
Spot trading fees
According to the MEXC Fees Explained guide, updated on 21 September 2026, the base spot trading fee is 0.0000% for maker orders and 0.0500% for taker orders. In practice, if you buy $1,000 of a coin with a market order, the taker fee at this rate is $0.50, by our calculation. If you place a limit order that waits in the book and fills as a maker, the base rate is zero. Fees can change, so check the fee page before any significant trade.
Futures fees
In the same guide, the base futures trading fee is 0.000% for maker orders and 0.020% for taker orders. The fee is calculated on position value, not on the margin you deposited, so in leveraged trading the dollar fee grows with the position. The guide also mentions a tiered fee structure for some perpetual pairs, based on the user's trading volume and level, but does not list the tiers. Beyond the trading fee, perpetual futures also involve funding payments between traders, covered in the futures guide.
20% discount for MX holders
MX is MEXC's token. According to the official guide, MX holders get a 20% discount on spot trading fees. In futures, you transfer MX into the futures account, and it can then be used to offset trading fees at a 20% discount. Since the base maker fee is zero, the discount matters mainly for taker fees. Holding MX is exposed to the token's price movements, like any crypto asset. Current fee rates, including the discount, are shown on the Trading Fees page on the site or under Fee Settings in the app.
Where to check the current fee
The guide points to the Trading Fees page on the MEXC website, which shows spot and futures fees. In the app, go to the profile and tap Fee Settings. The guide also mentions a promotion called 0 Fee Fest, under which some pairs trade with zero fees. The promotion's terms and pairs change, so check them on the site. The fee guide we reviewed does not list deposit or withdrawal fees. Blockchain withdrawal fees were not verified here and are usually shown on the withdrawal screen itself.
