What the comparison is based on
The comparison is based on two official pages checked on 3 October 2026: MEXC's fee guide, updated on 21 September 2026, and the Bybit Trading Fee Structure page, updated on 2 September 2026. At both exchanges fees vary by VIP level, so we compared the base tier. Bybit notes that the actual fee may vary by your region and recommends checking the My Fee Rate page in your account. Trading crypto and leveraged products involves high volatility and a risk of losing all the money deposited.
Spot fees
At MEXC, according to the official guide, the base spot fee is 0% for maker and 0.05% for taker. At Bybit, at VIP 0, the spot fee on crypto-to-crypto pairs is 0.1% for both maker and taker. For fiat-to-crypto pairs Bybit publishes 0.15% maker and 0.2% taker at the base tier. Based on the published figures, at the base tier MEXC's spot fees are lower than Bybit's for both order types. At both exchanges it is worth checking the fee for the specific pair before trading.
Futures fees
At MEXC the base futures fee is 0% for maker and 0.02% for taker. At Bybit, for perpetuals and futures at VIP 0, the fee is 0.02% maker and 0.055% taker. Bybit also publishes options fees: 0.02% maker and 0.03% taker at the base tier. At both exchanges the fee is calculated on position value, so in leveraged trading a percentage difference translates into a larger dollar difference. Bybit notes that the actual fee may vary by region, and MEXC mentions tiered fees on some pairs.
Discounts and VIP levels
At MEXC, holders of the MX token get a 20% discount on spot trading fees, and in futures you can transfer MX into the futures account to offset fees at a 20% discount. MEXC also mentions a tiered structure by volume and level on some pairs, and a 0 Fee Fest promotion on selected pairs. At Bybit, the VIP level is set by either asset balance or trading volume over the past 30 days, whichever qualifies for the higher tier. When signing up for Bybit you can enter the referral code BROKERLENS. For MEXC there is a sign-up link on the site.
Futures products and leverage at MEXC
MEXC offers two kinds of perpetual contracts. In USDT-M contracts margin is in USDT, and published leverage is up to 500x. In Coin-M contracts margin is in the coin itself, and on BTCUSD and ETHUSD published leverage is up to 125x. In both cases maximum leverage decreases as the position grows. The Bybit fee page we reviewed does not list its leverage caps, so we did not compare this figure. Anyone comparing leverage should check each contract's page separately.
Identity verification
At MEXC, KYC is required to deposit, withdraw and trade, according to the 5 February 2026 announcement. There are two levels: Primary with an 80 BTC daily withdrawal limit, and Advanced with 200 BTC. The review usually completes within 15 minutes. Bybit's verification requirements were not covered in this review, so we do not compare them here. At both exchanges, service availability also depends on where you live. A country's absence from a restriction list does not mean you are eligible to open an account.
