Eightcap vs OANDA: platforms, accounts and forex fees
Check TradingView and MetaTrader connections, normalize commission units and identify the contracting company for international Eightcap and OANDA US forex.

Eightcap vs OANDA: choose the account behind the chart
Eightcap vs OANDA is primarily an account and workflow decision, even when the search began with TradingView. Eightcap’s international site describes Standard and Raw CFD accounts. OANDA is examined here through OANDA Corporation’s US forex service. This comparison does not establish identical products or acceptance of residents from the same countries.
Both brands document TradingView connections and MT4 use. The useful distinction is which account connects, how its pricing plan is identified and which units are entered into an order. Familiar software can reduce learning effort, but it does not replace the account specification or the company signing the agreement.
The answer to which fits better therefore depends on the requirement: a particular CFD product, a US forex account, MT5 or a specific TradingView process. Identify the requirement that cannot be compromised first. Once a compatible account is found, compare spread, commission and financing for a defined trade.
The Eightcap review and OANDA review provide each provider’s context. Evaluate the process through specific actions: selecting the account, locating the symbol, entering size and understanding the booked charge. This identifies whether the obstacle is connectivity, measurement units or pricing conditions before making a broad workspace change.
Eightcap and OANDA: identify the company before account terms
Eightcap describes separate companies within its group. The international site names companies in the Bahamas, Seychelles and Mauritius; its about page also identifies Eightcap EU Ltd in Cyprus and companies in Australia and the UK. These are provider-described companies, not a finding that each offers the same account to a particular reader.
Do not transfer the international account tariff to Eightcap EU Ltd merely because it shares the brand. The company’s document, client classification and instrument determine the relevant terms.
OANDA Corporation is the US company on which this article’s OANDA sources are based. Other OANDA regional offers can have different products and contracts. An English page, accessible app or visible chart does not establish admission to this company or entitlement to the described tariff.
Record the full company name, jurisdiction and product in the comparison worksheet. If onboarding proposes a different company from the one researched, pause the price calculation and update the data. This step prevents selection based on protections or fees belonging to a contract that will not actually be offered. A group’s regulator list is not a substitute for reading the individual agreement.
Eightcap versus OANDA pricing: what each row measures
The table summarizes known facts for the specified plans. It contains no live spread, support rating or execution-speed measure because those were not measured in this research.
Scroll the table horizontally to read every column.
| Component | International Eightcap | OANDA Corporation in the US |
|---|---|---|
| Spread-based pricing | Standard; share commissions are an exception | Spread-only plan |
| Separate commission | Raw by account currency and lot | Core by units and each leg |
| Advertised minimum on separate-commission plan | Raw from zero pips | Core from zero on selected pairs |
| Documented chart connection | Designated Eightcap TradingView account | TradingView in the US offering |
A zero minimum spread is not a zero trading cost. Commission can apply when a quote has a very narrow spread, and the spread can widen under other conditions. On Standard, identify whether the product is forex or a share CFD rather than interpreting a general statement as eliminating every fee on every instrument.
Required funding is not a trading charge. Eightcap’s tariff advertises a USD 100 minimum deposit, while OANDA Core requires an initial deposit or balance of at least USD 10,000. These conditions belong to the named offers; they do not establish suitable risk capital or a requirement for another plan under the same brand.
Eightcap and OANDA TradingView connections: three layers
Within TradingView, separate the user account holding chart settings, practice mode and a connected broker account. All three layers may appear on one screen, but the broker account determines the traded product and booked charges. Saving a chart template does not transfer money or positions between companies.
Eightcap describes creating a designated TradingView trading account and connecting through Trading Panel. Supported live and demo accounts can connect, while deposits and withdrawals remain with Eightcap. This does not establish automatic connectivity for every existing Raw or Standard account. Confirm the platform assignment of the account actually offered.
OANDA lists TradingView among its US platforms. Confirm the selected account in the panel and the instruments available to it. A chart from another data source can support analysis, but its price is not a promise of execution for an order in the connected account. A practice record should explicitly identify the chart source.
A useful connection check covers the correct login, balance display, instrument selection, unit verification and the working order after submission. The Eightcap platform guide provides further context. A template or password is not legal authorization to trade, and using the same platform does not guarantee identical statements or options at each provider.
Eightcap and OANDA example: the cost of one tenth of a lot
Assume EUR/USD exposure of 10,000 euros, or 0.10 lot in this example, in a USD account. A pip of USD 0.0001 per euro is worth USD 1 here. Isolate pricing with a constant midpoint and spread and no financing, conversion or slippage. This is neither a live quote nor an execution trial at the two providers.
Eightcap Raw publishes USD 3.50 per lot per side, so the example’s round-trip commission is 3.50 multiplied by 0.10 multiplied by two: USD 0.70. Under OANDA Core’s tariff, two USD 0.70 charges per 10,000 units total USD 1.40. Different billing units have been normalized to the same exposure.
For illustration, choose an Eightcap spread of 0.3 pips and an OANDA spread of 0.1. Eightcap’s modeled cost is USD 1:0.30 of spread plus 0.70 of commission. OANDA’s is USD 1.50:0.10 of spread plus 1.40 of commission. Comparing spreads alone misses the separate commission component.
The commission gap is USD 0.70. A Core spread saving of exactly 0.70 pips offsets it and produces equal costs; a greater saving makes Core cheaper under these assumptions. Proportional changes in size do not change the pip threshold unless minimum charges or rounding alter the relationship. In practice, examine the booked charge and actual account’s order conditions instead of claiming a general advantage from the illustration.
Order units at Eightcap and OANDA: the same number can mislead
Moving between trading environments can change how volume is entered. A number representing lots in one screen does not necessarily represent currency units in another. Do not copy a quantity from memory, a shortcut or a spreadsheet without attaching its unit and the instrument’s contract size.
Under Eightcap’s published forex convention, one lot represents 100,000 base-currency units and 0.01 lot represents 1,000. OANDA describes Core commission in currency units. Convert units before comparing commission and margin so that a small trade on one side is not compared with much larger exposure on the other.
Margin is also distinct from commission. It is an amount required to support a position, whereas commission and financing are charges affecting the result. Passing an order-opening threshold does not establish suitable exposure for the account’s capital. Adverse movement and charges can reduce available equity even after the initial margin check succeeds.
For evaluation, express size in both base units and the platform’s unit, then confirm that the conversion matches. Record base currency, quote currency and account currency separately. The position-size and margin guide explains the distinction. Convenient buttons are insufficient if the exposure being submitted is difficult to understand.
Eightcap and OANDA financing: evaluate the holding calendar
To compare a multi-day position, build a holding calendar with rollover events. Opening and closing costs can be small relative to accumulated financing, and a rate published for one direction does not describe the opposite side. A narrow spread does not remove this question.
Eightcap explains that overnight financing can be a debit or credit and that triple charges depend on the asset class. Instrument specifications identify the relevant rate and schedule. A swap-free plan can also carry administration charges under its conditions; its name should not be interpreted as an absence of holding costs.
US OANDA describes financing for positions remaining open at 17:00 ET. Its mechanism uses an annual rate and position value, allowing for settlement, holidays and weekends. Do not copy an annual percentage into a calculation where the input is points or money per lot without converting units and the calculation basis.
If analysis suggests lower costs at one provider, also evaluate another day of holding and the opposite direction. A worksheet can separate a normal daily cost from the number of charged days at rollover. This comparison helps someone with a defined holding period; it neither forecasts interest rates nor guarantees the position will close as scheduled.
Eightcap and OANDA risk: protections do not replace product analysis
Leveraged forex and CFDs can produce rapid losses. Comparing Eightcap with OANDA is not a way to select a low-risk product, and a small commission does not reduce position exposure. Decide what loss can be borne before examining margin requirements or the number of advertised instruments.
At Eightcap, leverage depends on entity and retail or professional classification. A level from one offer cannot be applied to every group company. Contractual balance protection is not a promise to reimburse ordinary trading losses. Without reviewing the proposed company’s agreement, do not present another company’s protection as applicable.
OANDA Corporation’s US warning states that losses can exceed the investment and forex accounts lack SIPC protection. These are US product conditions, not a uniform description of all OANDA services. Responsible comparison does not offset the warning with a generic statement about oversight or brand longevity.
Examine a scenario where an exit executes differently from the plan, or connectivity is lost while a position remains open. This evaluates order management rather than promising every loss can be prevented. Specify how account status is identified, which permitted alternative access channel exists and whom to contact if an error occurs.
An Eightcap–OANDA migration check: retain records and recheck settings
A chart template or watchlist can preserve organization, but open positions and balances belong to the provider account. Changing platforms should not be treated as automatically transferring them. Before altering a workflow, retain statements and record which orders remain active and who manages them.
For TradingView, recheck the company, account number, instrument source and volume unit. In MetaTrader, also check the server and pricing-plan symbols. If a shortcut enters a fixed quantity, suspend its use during migration practice until the quantity’s compatibility with the new specification is clear.
Compare defined operational actions: locating a position, modifying an order, cancelling an order and exporting a statement. These can be practiced in a supported environment without presenting practice as live-execution testing. Success in one scenario does not establish behavior for every instrument or session; include rejection messages as well as accepted orders.
Migration costs include verification and learning time, not just a trade tariff. For an established process, a slightly lower price may not justify switching before reports and actions are understood. A new workflow can place greater weight on instrument and charge clarity. The criterion is compatibility with the required process, without claiming an unmeasured convenience advantage.
Eightcap or OANDA: questions that decide a defined workflow
Can TradingView alone decide the choice? Its connection matters operationally for a workflow built around it, but it does not determine product, company or cost. Establish the account type and tradable instruments, then examine pricing within that service scope.
Is Eightcap Raw always preferable to OANDA Core? Raw has lower round-trip commission in the worked illustration, but total costs depend on actual spreads, financing and other charges. Entry conditions differ, and this comparison does not grant access to the US service. For another pair, continue to the FP Markets and OANDA comparison.
Is a demo sufficient for a decision? It helps with units, orders and connectivity. It does not measure client admission, money handling or live execution prices. Use it to refine requirements and identify configuration mistakes, then return to the proposed account’s agreement and tariff.
Eightcap may fit CFD and platform requirements within its international offer, while OANDA may fit its documented US forex process. Selection should rest on an explainable match rather than an overall score. This article provides a comparison framework; TradeVenn neither manages a trading account nor executes orders for the reader.
