TradersPost vs PineConnector: broker routing, MT5 and total cost
Compare TradersPost cloud routing with PineConnector execution through MetaTrader, including hosted Edge, account setup, position sizing, monitoring and an orderly exit.

Start with the account that must receive the order
If your strategy already runs in TradingView, identify its execution account before choosing a bridge. TradersPost routes signals to supported brokerage and exchange connections. PineConnector routes signals into MetaTrader. Its current managed service, Edge, hosts MT5 with the PineConnector Expert Advisor, or EA. The EA is the software component inside the trading terminal that processes instructions.
An MT5 user should first check the exact broker server, permission to use an EA and the instrument being traded. Someone seeking a supported connection to a stock or futures account should first inspect the TradersPost connector. A broker name alone cannot answer the question: account type, asset class and trading product can change compatibility.
Both tools act on instructions you choose. Paying for connectivity does not validate the strategy, and neither connection guarantees a profit or an execution price.
Compare the connection structure
Scroll the table horizontally to read every column.
| Decision | PineConnector | |
|---|---|---|
| Order destination | Supported brokerage or exchange connection | MetaTrader account; Edge is for MT5 |
| Execution component | Cloud routing through the account connector | Bridge plus EA inside MT5 |
| Hosting | Cloud routing service | Managed Edge or self-hosted MT5 |
| Configuration unit | Strategy and account subscription | Connection, License ID and EA settings |
| Evidence of success | Order and fill in the destination account | Journal plus broker order state |
This describes software connectivity. Residence acceptance, permission for automation and prop-account restrictions also depend on the organization providing the account. A working technical connection does not override a broker or programme restriction.
Both have a route that works with your computer off
TradersPost operates its routing service in the cloud. PineConnector requires a distinction between self-hosted MT5 and Edge. With self-hosting, you maintain the machine, terminal, account connection and running EA. A computer going to sleep can interrupt that execution path.
Edge hosts MT5 and the PineConnector EA, so your personal computer can also be switched off after setup on this route. Edge supports MT5 with PineConnector; it does not host MT4 or third-party EAs. If another component must run in your terminal, establish whether you need self-hosting and budget for it separately.
Cloud hosting transfers infrastructure work to the provider. Oversight remains your job. Decide who checks that the account remains connected and who accesses the broker when a signal and a position disagree. A running server can still have a disconnected account or insufficient permissions.
Use a setup sequence you can verify before live trading
In TradersPost, start with Paper, create a strategy and connect it to an account through a strategy subscription. Inspect the selected account, default quantity and automatic-submission setting in each subscription. A new subscription starts disabled. Creating a connection and permitting it to send orders are separate steps.
For PineConnector, begin with an MT5 demo account. Select the exact broker server, identify which account receives each License ID and complete a connectivity check before testing a demo order. Then test the TradingView alert path and closure of that same position. A connectivity check alone does not establish permission to trade your chosen symbol.
Keep a short worksheet with the account name, symbol, quantity unit and expected exit result. Change one variable per test. Changing both the connection and sizing formula makes a discrepancy harder to diagnose. This is a proposed testing process for you to perform; we did not connect an account or place a trade for this comparison.
For multiple accounts, prepare a recipient list for every signal. Verify that a test alert cannot also reach another account, then check size separately at each destination. A correct record in one demo account does not validate the others. Repeat recipient mapping after replacing a server or connection; a familiar display name cannot confirm that the underlying account stayed the same.
Copying a symbol or quantity can change exposure
TradersPost accepts JSON signals. PineConnector has its own command grammar and EA configuration. A message written for one service is not a valid template for the other. Even a buy instruction needs context: it might add exposure, close an existing side or create another order.
Before moving, write down the intended behaviour independently of either product: instrument, desired units, exit conditions and response to a repeated message. In MT5, inspect contract size, minimum volume and volume increments. A chart symbol can differ from the broker's name for a similar market.
Current PineConnector syntax distinguishes fixed volume, loss budgets based on balance or equity, and margin allocation. Do not interpret a number in a parameter as percentage risk without checking that parameter's meaning. In demo, compare actual exposure and exit quantity, including any remaining partial position.
Compare cost on the same billing and capacity basis
PineConnector lists monthly launch prices of USD59 for Core with one connection and hosted MT5, and USD129 for Plus with up to three connections and hosted terminals. Displayed post-launch prices are USD69 and USD149. Pro is listed at USD199 monthly with up to five connections and hosted terminals. These cover software and hosting; account and execution costs are separate.
The rendered TradersPost pricing page shows Starter at USD41.65 per month billed yearly, with one live account and one asset class. That monthly equivalent is not directly comparable with a monthly subscription on commitment terms. Count the accounts and asset classes your workflow actually needs.
Add charting software, webhook access, market data and execution charges. Self-hosted MT5 may add machine or VPS expenses; described Edge hosting is included. The advertised Core trial costs USD7 for seven days and renews at USD59 monthly unless cancelled. It is available once per member without an Edge plan. Check the first charge, renewal date, taxes and required account capacity at checkout.
Monitoring starts at the signal and ends at the broker
For each operating session, sample events and match the alert time, received message and recorded account order. In TradersPost, begin with the source alert log, then Signals and execution details. In PineConnector Edge, Experts shows what the EA attempted; Journal helps trace terminal and broker responses.
An attempted operation is not a confirmed fill. If an exit looks wrong, inspect the destination account for positions, pending orders and partial fills. Avoid resending an instruction merely because a dashboard updates slowly. The first order might already have arrived.
TradersPost documents that failed or rejected orders are not automatically retried. Establish a rejection procedure instead of expecting the bridge to repair the problem. Compare the products by the evidence you can collect when something goes wrong. We have not benchmarked their speed or availability.
Stopping or switching requires an explicit handover
Before a switch, prevent fresh entries at the signal source and assign responsibility for every open position. Check the broker for protective orders, their duration and whether a software component must remain running to trigger them. Disabling a connection does not substitute for closing a position or cancelling an order.
Avoid attaching both products to the same live strategy just to see which responds first. Use separated demo environments and compare recorded outcomes. At the final handover, verify that one system owns new entries and that old alerts no longer point to the previous destination.
After deciding how orders and exposure will be managed, remove an unnecessary connection and cancel subscription renewal under the applicable terms. Record what moved, what closed and what still needs manual attention. This is more useful evidence than a screenshot of a disabled button.
Questions before choosing
I use MT4. Does Edge fit?
Current Edge documentation specifies MT5 and excludes MT4. Establish a supported route for your exact account. An older description of a MetaTrader bridge does not prove current hosted MT4 availability.
Which fits someone already using TradingView?
For an MT5 destination that permits the EA, assess PineConnector and its hosting choice. For a supported direct account connector, assess the relevant TradersPost subscription. Keeping your charting tool does not require keeping the execution mechanism.
Does a successful demo mean the connection is ready?
Demo helps verify symbols, sizing and exits. Built-in TradersPost Paper has permissive fill rules, so a simulated fill cannot establish live execution quality or profitability. Read the automated trading guide for the wider operating process.
Where should I begin with TradersPost?
Read the provider overview, TradingView setup guide and plan guide. Define the account and instrument requirements first, then establish whether the software terms meet them.
