Brokers and exchanges for Israeli residents: what to check

A checklist for Israeli residents before opening an account with a provider abroad: which entity serves you, the provider's country list, KYC documents and deposit routes.

Why check before you sign up

Every trading provider abroad publishes its own list of places it does not serve. These lists are not always closed. The KCEX user agreement states explicitly that its list of restricted countries is not exhaustive. Bybit also writes that it may stop serving further jurisdictions at its sole discretion. So checking one list on one day is a starting point, not a final answer. Before you send money, read the provider's current terms, check how they define "resident" and "user", and keep a copy of what you read and the date.

Which entity serves you

One brand can operate through several companies, and each company is subject to its own licence and terms. The RoboForex website footer states that the service is provided by RoboForex Ltd, regulated by the FSC under licence No. 9759600. Bybit's restricted-countries page includes a restriction that applies only to one entity, Bybit Virtual Asset Platform Operator LLC, regarding Dubai. What this means for you: look in the agreement for the name of the company you are contracting with, where it is registered and which body supervises it. That information decides which rules apply to your account.

What the country lists say about Israel

Today we checked the official pages of the six providers on the site: the KCEX user agreement, the MEXC terms, Bybit's restricted-countries page, the country list in the RoboForex website footer, FTMO's "who can join" page and the TradersPost terms of service. Israel does not appear in any of them, neither as a restricted country nor as a served country. Absence from a restricted list is not confirmation that you can open an account. The provider makes that decision during sign-up and verification. Each provider has its own page on our site with the quotes and links.

Identity verification (KYC) with an Israeli document

Most providers ask for a photo ID document. Bybit accepts a passport, identity card, residence permit or driving licence issued by your country of origin, and accepts physical documents only, not scans. RoboForex asks for an international passport or, if you have none, a national passport, identity card or residence permit, plus a proof of address no older than 6 months. FTMO asks for a passport or national ID card. None of the pages we read refers specifically to an Israeli ID card. A valid passport is the option that appears everywhere, but only the provider can confirm that your document is accepted.

Deposit and payment routes

Deposit routes differ a lot between types of service. According to the KCEX help page, deposits are made by transferring crypto to a wallet address on the platform. MEXC writes that it works with partners that let users convert fiat into digital assets by bank transfer, credit or debit card and the MEXC Mastercard. Bybit lists crypto deposit, One-Click Buy, fiat deposit and P2P. FTMO takes payment for its product by card, digital wallets, crypto or bank transfer. TradersPost bills a subscription by credit card. Before your first deposit, check which of these methods are actually available in your account.

Risk, reporting and what to do in practice

Leveraged trading and crypto carry high risk, and you can lose the entire amount deposited. Opening an account abroad does not exempt you from checking your reporting and tax duties in Israel, so we prepared a separate guide on that. In practice: read the provider's current terms, identify the entity you are contracting with, prepare a valid passport and a recent proof of address, and contact the provider's customer support to confirm that Israeli residents are accepted. That way you know before depositing, not after, whether the account will be approved.

If Israel is not on the restricted list, can I open an account?

Not necessarily. KCEX writes that its list is not exhaustive, and Bybit reserves the right to add jurisdictions. Only the provider approves the account during sign-up.

Which ID document should I prepare?

A valid passport appears in the lists of Bybit, RoboForex and FTMO. Some providers also ask for a proof of address, for example RoboForex, which limits it to 6 months old.

Can I deposit shekels directly?

The pages we read do not mention deposits in shekels. KCEX takes crypto deposits, and MEXC and Bybit offer fiat routes through partners, cards or bank transfer. Check in your account which currencies are available to you.

Where can I read about tax and reporting?

In our separate guide on trading tax for Israeli residents. This page only covers whether a provider accepts you and what it asks for.
